Finally! I was able to find words to describe some of the unusual and abstract experiences that I have been promising for a while to write for you. I love how it provides practical details, and so concisely.

My teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, told me to share my experiences with the whole world. If he is correct that I am a catalyst, then hopefully you will benefit on some level. Because my readers come from various traditions, countries and backgrounds, I have simplified my very abstract experiences as follows:
During and after a recent Group Healing, my experiences were similar to ones I have had since the 1970's. I could not find any boundaries to my awareness; I was everywhere simultaneously; I pervaded all. On a subtle level, my body was made of gems of consciousness, pulsating in beautiful light.
Next, I perceived the primordial state of creation in real time, along with the clear memory of being present when existence was pure, the beginning of creation. This memory has always resided in my awareness. The present also contained the past, along with everything and every time. Déjà vu to the max. I was alert consciousness perceiving existence in its uncontaminated state, pregnant with limitless potential.
This pristine state was full of light, yet it was silent. It glowed with self-luminous brilliance. All of universal knowledge was quietly present, in macroscopic and microscopic detail. Every rishi, every mode of consciousness that cognizes truth, was awake. I was the whole and all parts.
While I have had these types of experiences for some time, a new gift unfolded. In that pristine state, breathing took on a higher level. In that pure and good atmosphere, I was breathing the vital force of life itself. What a magical elixir!
Fortunately, this vital force has been repeatedly accessible. It is as if I have found a window that lets in this fresh purifying air, a cosmic cleaner that automatically restores, rejuvenates and sanctifies.
Another feature of this pristine state that I so enjoy is the assistance of universal intelligence and all the laws of nature, in other words, God and all God's helpers. They are not outside of my Self; they are divine qualities in that oneness. I thank God and God's helpers for helping me help others. They do the heavy lifting. If I did not have friends in high places, I do not see how people could get the results they do with my healing work. Certainly, my little intellect could not figure out what each person needs or how to make that happen.
I feel like I have a sanctuary that is always with me, a portable sanctuary that exists in all places. No matter how awful the world gets, in an instant, the hard edges of terribleness disappear, and I am there in that pure beauty and truth. The ultimate comfort and refuge.

Air raid sirens blasted, and distant bombs exploded. A man behind my mother panicked and pushed her. She stumbled, but was able to grab the handrail to steady herself. Everyone in the hotel was rushing down the stairs to get to the closest bomb shelter down the street. If anyone fell, it could cause an avalanche of bodies tumbling down the stairs.
Once people were mostly settled in the small bomb shelter, mother surveyed its occupants for injuries. Some people shivered and softly cried, while others silently turned into zombies. A few women wailed loudly. She felt sorry for those who had lost loved ones and had to flee their homes because they were Jewish or simply because they found themselves in a war zone. At least she did not need to bandage anyone today.
Mother heard bits of conversations:
"I thought being down here in Cairo was going to be safer than France."
"Everybody wants control of the Suez Canal."
"You can't win a war without supplies, equipment and men."
"Whoever has control of the Suez Canal, has the quickest access to the oil fields of the Middle East."
"And the raw materials of Asia."
Mother wondered, "Is this bomb shelter going to be my new home?" Spending hour after hour after hour there tried her patience. Too many people in a confined space with no windows and broken rocks for a floor. No food, no water, nothing to do. The air was dusty and smelled like an outhouse. People coughed everywhere around her. Her legs felt cramped. She longed to get out of this dungeon, stretch her legs and breathe fresh air.
An old woman with a cane hobbled into the packed bomb shelter. There was no place for her to sit, so mother gave the woman her space. Mother left the shelter and took a walk as the sun rose. She savored the warm sunshine and untainted air. Even though she could still hear distant bombs, she did not feel afraid. She walked back to her hotel and up a flight of stairs, and then another, and another and another.
When she arrived at the top floor of the hotel, she opened a door and walked out onto the flat rooftop. She looked down at the dusty, semi-deserted streets of Cairo and wished the bombing would end.
After a while, she lay down on her back, looked up at the sky and pretended that she was at the beach. She always loved watching the clouds. The sky wore an infinite wardrobe of ever-changing clouds. Up here, life was simple, just her alone with the peaceful blue expanse. She studied a cinnamon-brown bird with black-and-white barred wings as it flew freely through pure azure.
After the screaming air raid sirens stopped, she heard a rumbling sound. She saw a gray plane speeding towards her. She rushed towards the stairs, but then realized there was not enough time to get to the bomb shelter. Nor did she trust that rickety structure anyway. Besides, at least up on the roof she had a nice view. She loved to watch the planes soar through the sky and often imagined that she was in one. She wished she could fly a plane and be above it all. Or at least she could fly out of Cairo and to the United States.
When the plane was almost overhead, she stood up, all 4 feet 11 inches of her. She took off her pink second-hand sweater and waved it at the plane. She wanted the pilot to see who he may be about to kill, an innocent 15-year-old girl who wanted to help people, not harm them. She was just trying to get to America so she could become a nurse.
Mother had wanted to become a nurse for as long as she could remember. Starting from when she was four years old, her father liked her to come with him on house calls. He was an American volunteer physician in charge of the American Hospital in Turkey. They could not afford a car, so they traveled to the Turks' homes by camel or donkey. When the doctor and his little daughter entered their homes, her sweet presence seemed to put their worried minds at ease. She also was good at cleaning and bandaging wounds.
As the plane flew over the hotel, mother waved her pink sweater at it again. Then the plane dipped its right wing, as if to wave back to her and say hello. Just for a moment, she felt as if she had been uplifted into the plane and could see the beautiful view from there. She waved her pink sweater again and the plane dipped its right wing again and flew on. She smiled and watched it get smaller and smaller until a big cloud swallowed it up. She heard an explosion in the distance.
I lay on my back in the grass at the local airport, watching the sky, waiting for my mother's plane to appear. I saw a large cloud that looked like a whale. A plane emerged from its mouth and flew straight towards me. I leapt up and ran around in a circle, as I waved my arms and hollered, “Hey mom! Hey mom! Hey mom!” In response, she dipped the plane's right wing and then flew in a circle above me.
Mom had done well with her flying lessons.
In my last blog, I talked about how my mother was going through extremely difficult times. She managed to come out of that darkness by making the best of whatever situation she found herself in. Instead of feeling anxious during the bombings, she confessed to me that she got into the habit of going to rooftops where she could watch the planes soar through the sky. She said that at night, the sights and sounds of the bombings were more spectacular than any fireworks display.
Here is another example of how she adapted: To get from Egypt to the US, mother and her two brothers boarded a cargo ship. Since it was not meant for passengers, about 200 people were packed together on the deck and about as many in two large storage rooms below deck. Shortly after they departed, German submarines began to follow their ship. Since everyone had heard that German subs had recently sunk other vessels, many people became hysterical and cried. My mother decided that scene was not for her. She quickly concluded there was nothing they could do, so she went to the other side of the ship and enjoyed watching the dolphins. Even in the face of danger, she found something to appreciate in the moment. On her own, she realized that the present was all that she had, and she enjoyed it to the fullest.
An extreme example of appreciating the moment is when Sydney Carlton sacrificed himself for another in Charles Dickens' novel, A Tale of Two Cities. Just before he was executed at the guillotine, he said: "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known."
If you would like to experience more joy in your life, get into the habit of finding something to appreciate in the moment. For example, when eating, notice the nuances of the different tastes, textures and aromas. Feel gratitude for the food that was made for you to enjoy and the miracle of your digestion. Appreciating the smaller miracles of life invites larger ones to come.

In this blog, I share part two of my mother's experiences in the Middle East during the Second World War. This old story of being displaced by war and fleeing to Cairo is repeating itself today. If you missed part one, you can catch up here. This blog also includes some of my artwork and relevant remarks by Maharishi about my personal experiences.
For my mother and her two brothers, getting an education used to be easy when their mother was still alive. Fluent in five languages, music and art, their mother homeschooled them and other Americans in the American Hospital compound in Turkey. After their mother died, the closest American school was over 300 miles away in Beirut, Lebanon, so they only saw their father during holidays and summer break. They attended the Lebanese school for one year, until it closed due to bombardments in the vicinity.
By 1941, with the Second World War raging around them, it was decided that the US was the only safe place to educate my mother, age 15, and her 9- and 17-year-old brothers. The trick would be getting there because the Germans were attacking ships in the Mediterranean and the North Atlantic. Travel by sea was the only choice, so the plan was to travel to Cairo and board a passenger ship departing from the Suez Canal. To avoid the Germans, ships had to take a long detour—around the tip of South Africa and then across the Atlantic Ocean. Since mother's father was the only physician for the 100-bed hospital in Turkey and on call 24/7, his children had to make this dangerous journey without him.
My mother and her two brothers started their trip with a bumpy ride in a freight truck conveniently leaving Lebanon for Israel. From there, they caught a ride to Cairo in a produce truck. Then they were stuck in Cairo for 30 days while the Germans attacked ships around the Suez Canal.
After a month of waiting, mother felt terribly restless, so she decided to visit the Great Pyramids. It took over 50 minutes to get through the long entrance line. When she emerged, a man on a camel started explaining the history of the Great Pyramids. He also pointed out that riding a camel was the best way to see everything. He had a good, strong camel for rent, and he needed money to feed his six children. She wanted to help him out, but she had little money. Finally, he offered such a low price that she agreed. Because the camel stood about seven feet tall, he got it to kneel down so she could more easily mount the blanketed saddle perched high atop its one hump.
As the camel slowly strolled through the crowds and toward the pyramids, my mother's heart cramped when she saw parents with their children. The last time she was on a camel was with her father, at home in Turkey. Would she ever again see him and the only home she had known? How could God have let her mother die after all her parents' good work? Every day they had helped and healed others. Even though it was a cool morning, mother began to boil inside and started to sweat.
Suddenly, the camel roared and began to gallop at full speed. As the camel sped through the crowds of hundreds of tourists, it moaned and spewed slobber. People cursed and screamed at her. The camel would not respond to her tugs on its rope—it was out of control. There were no stirrups, so mother bounced around on top of the camel's hump, clinging to the wooden handle at the front of the saddle. She held her breath as the sea of tourists quickly parted to make way.
Seeing his camel storm through the dense crowds around the pyramids and the Great Sphinx, the camel's owner mounted another camel and took up the chase. Finally, he was able to grab the runaway camel's rope and bring it to a stop. The agitated camel growled and spit into the crowd, hitting a young girl in the eye. She cried, her parents screamed at the camel owner, and the camel moaned even louder. The camel's owner yelled at mother, "What did you do to my camel?"
My mother's ordeal illustrates our influence on those around us. Have you noticed that your mood can affect not only the people around you, but also animals? Here's a feline example from my aunt. She had a blanket wrapped around her and was sobbing. Her cat arched his back, growled at the blanket and bit it.
Have you ever noticed your pet picking up on your feelings? When our neighbor got terribly sick with Covid, his dog came over to our yard, not far from the room where I do my healing work, and barked for hours at a time. New studies show how behavioral and chemical cues from humans can affect animals, and even infect them with those same feelings! So, if you feel anxious, your pet can feel and behave that way as well. In my mother's case, outer turmoil contributed to her inner turmoil of spiritual desolation and doubt. This, in turn, created a ripple effect, spreading chaos in her environment.
People as well as pets learn through observation and can mirror the emotional state of those around them. This is an incentive for us to cultivate and radiate inner peace and happiness.

Could repentance help get my mother out of this bomb shelter and war zone? She pondered. She certainly regretted the time back home in their garden when she and her brother leapfrogged over Muslims kneeling at prayer. Next, they turned the sprinkler on. They were young children then and did not think that anyone else should be in their garden. It was only after their father gave them a stern lecture that she realized they had been disrespectful and unkind.
And then there was the time an English archaeologist from National Geographic overstayed his welcome in their home. He was snotty to my mother and her siblings, even though they had sacrificed their precious space so that he could have his own private bedroom. The house was already crowded with five kids, parents, grandparents and the abandoned Turkish baby girl they had adopted. Before the archaeologist retired one evening, mother and her oldest brother put a small hedgehog in the archaeologist's bed. When they heard his loud screams, they could not stop giggling.
Mother wondered how to make up for the trouble she had caused. She hoped the sacrifices her family had made and the good works they had done could somehow make up for her shortcomings. Her mother (my grandmother) had spent two years in Japan doing volunteer work with a women's organization that empowered female factory workers and rural women to become self-reliant and free themselves from forced labor under inhumane conditions. After my grandmother returned to the United States, she married a new doctor, my mother's father. The couple devoted the rest of their lives in service to God through those in need.
As Near East Relief/Near East Foundation volunteers, for six years my mother's parents worked in refugee camps and established orphanages in Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Greece, Syria and the Caucasus.
For the next 30 years, my grandfather served as the director and only physician for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions' 100-bed hospital in Gaziantep, Turkey. Initially, there was no hot water and only one small microscope for diagnostic equipment. He trained the hospital staff and was on call 24/7. Every day by 7 AM, 30-40 Turks were already lined up to be healed by him at no charge.
My grandmother contributed to the villagers' education and well-being by teaching classes in basic school subjects and English. She was also inspired to teach hygiene after visiting a Turkish family in their home. There she saw a Turkish cook grind nuts in his mouth, spit them into a bowl and then mix them into a dish which she was then served.
Over the years, word of my grandparents' good works spread. The Pope met with the whole family privately in recognition of their contributions to the betterment of humanity, as did the presidents of Turkey and France.
After recalling all this and how her parents always extended a helping hand, my mother thought about what she should do. Certainly, she should treat everyone with respect and kindness, irrespective of how they behave. When assisting her father with his patients, she saw firsthand how people's behavior can get distorted when they are anxious and in pain. She hoped that by going to the US and becoming a nurse, she could follow along in the family tradition of contributing to the well-being of others.
In order to help humanity, it is not necessary to work in refugee camps and underserved hospitals. Just take a moment to reflect on your personal behavior and how you affect others. For example, how do you behave when tired or hungry, rushed or in pain? The answers to those questions may inspire you with greater compassion and understanding. They may serve as an incentive to take good care of yourself and communicate your needs in a gentle but clear manner.
The next time someone snaps at you, before you snap back, see if the person has an underlying need. Perhaps you can help. You might change his frown to a smile. You might transform a foe into a friend.
While it is true you can inherit bad karma from your relatives, you can also inherit good karma. I am grateful to my family and ancestors for their good deeds; they have contributed immensely to my connection to the source and my abilities as a healer. As a result, I feel honored to assist people in whatever way I can.

"Suzanne, I have a history of ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation with premature ventricular contractions. My health had been borderline for years, entailing multiple emergency room visits, heart surgery and more brushes with death than I care to think about. By God's grace manifesting through you, I am happy to report that my latest full round of medical tests, including my heart exams, has shown that, although I still have two heart conditions, I am in remarkable health for the first time in a long time. Also, I am grateful because my health has allowed me to continue our task of healing the world and raising consciousness. My heartfelt thanks for the healing of so much for so long."

My mother was crying. She had always wanted to have children. But a New York specialist had just informed her that she was at risk for life-threatening pregnancy complications, in the unlikely event that she ever got pregnant. Because her fallopian tubes were malformed, a growing embryo could implant there, and it would not be supported in its growth. Her fallopian tubes could rupture and cause severe bleeding and infection. She could die if she did not get immediate medical attention. She wasted no time before consulting with another doctor, but he came to the same sad conclusion. She went to a third specialist, who concurred.
To make matters worse, all three doctors told mother that she should have a total hysterectomy to avoid future problems. Note that today there are treatments available for her condition, but all that they could offer her at that time was to remove her reproductive organs. And she knew that would make it impossible for her to have kids. She was also informed that she had a double womb. She secretly wondered if having two of everything could somehow increase the possibility of her getting pregnant.
Normally, my mother respected a doctor’s opinion. After all, her father, husband, brother and uncles were doctors. Being a nurse anesthetist, she had personally witnessed many necessary and successful surgeries. But she decided to listen to her intuition. She was going to keep all her female parts. No surgery for her. If she got pregnant, her husband, a pediatrician, could monitor her closely. It turns out that her instincts about avoiding the surgery were correct; more recent studies have shown that the risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and bone fractures are higher for women who have a hysterectomy at age 50 or younger.
Shortly thereafter, mother was pregnant and gave birth to her first son. A year later, her second son was born. A year later, she had her third child, me. All three doctors had said that it was improbable, but they couldn't argue with three healthy babies.
Further proving the experts wrong, she had two more children, totaling five miracles. Right from our births, nature made it clear that anything was possible.
In reality, everyone is born from the same source of all possibilities and infinite potential. Maintain a clear connection to that source within with a healthy routine, meditation, communing with nature, doing art or whatever works for you. As a result, your intuition will be clearer, you will make better choices and have a more positive effect on others.

Carrying on with the familial medical tradition, my two older brothers became medical doctors, and my younger sister became a physician assistant. I started working in my father's office when I was 14 or 15 years old. Since he was a pediatrician, I got to help him with babies and children. The previous blog post began with my childhood story of reluctantly agreeing to play with my nine-year-old friend and her new tea set. Doing so was not my cup of tea, but I wanted to practice the Golden Rule principle, which I had just learned. As we pretended to sip tea, I realized that it was the perfect opportunity to do what I really wanted, discuss the Golden Rule and the implications of treating others with kindness and respect.
Many years later, while sipping herbal tea, I was reminded of the Golden Rule when I noticed on the back of my tea box an illustration of the allegory of long spoons. It depicted the difference between heaven and hell. When forced to eat with long spoons, those who do not cooperate, suffer and starve as a result. They truly live in hell.
I discovered that in the folklore of several cultures, the Golden Rule is taught by the parable of the long spoons. Versions of this parable are found in Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and other traditions. In the Chinese version, the diners are trying to eat rice with long chopsticks. In other variations, the people have appropriately sized cutlery but cannot bend their arms, so they cannot bring food to their own mouths. The moral of these variations is the same—cooperation leads to happiness; selfishness leads to misery.
If we extend (pun intended) the long spoon parable to living in a world with limited resources, the groups of people who treat each other well will create a nourishing environment, whereas those who are selfish will create unpleasant conditions. Where do you choose to be?

"Let's play with this new tea set I just got," said Karen with a big smile.
My nine-year-old mind thought, "That's silly. I don't even drink tea." To me, playing with a tea set was equivalent to playing with baby dolls. Karen had a baby doll that you could squirt water into its mouth with a little baby bottle. Water would come out the other end and then you had to change its diapers. I didn't see the point. I had a baby sister who could do the real thing. She slept in my bedroom, and when she cried in the middle of the night, I changed her diapers. Why walk all the way down the hall to wake up my parents when I was already awake?
What I really wanted to do with my friend was to discuss the mind-expanding wisdom I had just learned from my father right before I walked over to her house. It had awakened something glorious inside me, and I was bursting to share it!
I thought about what I had learned and realized that I had an opportunity to put it to use. So, I put myself in my friend's shoes and took her suggestion: "Okay, let's play with your tea set."
Karen carefully arranged the teacups and saucers on the picnic table. She poured water from her new teapot into two teacups. We gazed into our teacups and sipped away. She replenished our cups. We gazed into them and drank more. There didn't seem to be much else to do. Except talk.
So, I ventured, "My dad told me about a great saying, 'Do to others as you would have them do to you.'"
Karen said, "Oh, that's the Golden Rule, isn't it?" As we sipped from our teacups, we had a lovely conversation about being considerate. I felt as if my little world had gotten bigger and sweeter.
Since I first heard about the Golden Rule, it has often popped up in my awareness, like a sweet guardian angel to help guide me. I got into the habit of putting myself in other people's shoes. I soon found out that this is a great way to open the heart and experience greater understanding, appreciation, harmony and love.
The Golden Rule is associated with Christian ethics, but this universal principle is found in most ethical traditions, some of which predate the Bible. The Parliament of the World's Religions proclaimed the Golden Rule, "We must treat others as we wish others to treat us," as the common principle for many religions. It is heartening that the Initial Declaration of this was signed by 143 leaders from the world's major faiths.
The Golden Rule has followed me around over the years. Thirteen years ago, I was doing my daily yogic sun salutations in a tiny airport chapel while waiting for my connecting flight. Next to me was a Muslim doing his daily prayers with yogic-looking bows and prostrations. On the wall was a large poster with "The Golden Rule" written in large letters in the center of a globe, with these 13 quotes:

In my previous blog post, I shared the third part of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's response to the last experience I told him. In this final part, Maharishi referred to Jane Taylor's popular lullaby, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. This is why some people call me "Twinkle" or "Little Star." Here is this lovely lullaby in its entirety so that you understand his reference and can enjoy its depth:

Maharishi: "YOU JUST LIVE YOUR TREASURY, AND LET THE PEOPLE WONDER. What is that, 'wonder how'? 'How I wonder what you are,' someone said to the star (laughs), like that. Beautiful experience. It was very delightful to hear from you, Veda. I am the Veda, I am the Veda, I am the Veda. It’s very beautiful."
Note: In his final comments, Maharishi addresses the moderator of our conference call, the President of Maharishi International University, Dr. John Hagelin.
Maharishi: "DR. HAGELIN, BLESS YOUR STUDENTS. THEY ARE MASTERS. They are no more students. You can assign them teachership. They have risen to that level of owning the reality on the level of being the reality, not only owning on the intellectual level, but being on the ego level. Being on the level of reality themselves, totality—brahman."
Note: Regarding Maharishi's above concluding remarks, some people contend that he was just referring to me, but I hope he was referring to all of the 2000-plus people who were listening to the conference call at that time.

Ramo was weak with a severe intestinal infection for three months and developed severe diarrhea with a lot of blood and other symptoms. After I did several Distance Healings for him, Maaike reported:
"I am very grateful that Ramo is doing better and better. This is such a relief, and I am happy to see him content again."
Lana also became very weak, barely ate or drank, and lost a lot of weight. After doing several Distance Healings for her, I received this update:
"Dear Suzanne, you are a blessing to this world, and I feel honored to have been able to see what is possible—miracles! I am beyond joyful and grateful that Lana is doing really well! She is eating her normal food again since two weeks and also regaining her active personality. She still needs some encouragement with eating, but I see her digestion is coming back online in a good way! It has been a bumpy road for both of us these past few months, after the passing of my beloved father, and I am so grateful to have been feeling the support and the bedrock of your healings. My two fur babies are so loved and very lucky that you have given your loving attention and healing to them. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Note: There are different interpretations about what Maharishi said next. One interpretation is that he did not directly cognize Veda. Others believe that he did cognize Veda. While Maharishi did not typically talk about his own personal experiences, he certainly did have brilliant Vedic insights. Below are the exact words he spoke. Thousands of people heard our conversation live, and over the years, many more have heard the recording.
Maharishi: "ONE WOULD ALWAYS BE ENVIOUS OF YOU. You are experiencing Veda, Veda, Veda, and I am experiencing the Veda in the book. I am reading the Veda as a language. I am reading the Veda as a language, and you are experiencing the Veda as not language, but as silence, silence, silence but still silence flowing as atma (cosmic Self), atma, atma, atma. It is a beautiful experience."
Note: When Maharishi refers to "A" like below, he is referring to the first letter or sound of the Vedic alphabet. "A" represents the infinite, unbounded Self, totality. It is infinite silence, which contains within it infinite dynamism—pure knowledge embedded with organizing power—all of Veda.
Maharishi: "EVERYONE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT. Everyone would like to have it. I am the Ved. From I am the Ved to I am the vishwa—vishwa means the universe. And that, lively from the Veda to the vishwa, is already reported in your experience. So, it shifts: Veda and then this Veda, this Veda, this Veda, from Veda to Veda, from Veda to Veda. This is from Veda to vishwa. Vishwa is the universe. I am the universe. I am the Veda, so I am atma (Self), I am Ved, Aham (I am) Ved because I am 'A.' I am 'A'. I am flow of atma. Flow of atma is flow of 'A.' Flow of 'A' is the flow of Veda, so flow of Veda, flow of Veda. Flow of the precipitated, for lack of any proper expression, the language—not the language, but the precipitated language in the physiology, as the water flowing has frozen down and become snow and ice and all that, all that, all that. It is precipitated. It is becoming concrete, it is becoming concrete, it is becoming concrete."
Note: Next, Maharishi repeats "one would always be envious." Some people think that he was implying that he was envious, but that is hard to imagine coming from my guru, who spent so much time nurturing my experiences and then repeatedly telling me to share them. This remark seemed mainly for my protection and guidance.
Maharishi: "SO VERY BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCES. One would always be envious of your experiencing, but you do not worry whether people are envious of you."

"Since my first healing, I have noticed that nature support seems to be stronger in my life. The whole overall arc of my life has taken a turn for the better. "The job I landed after your healings is very suitable for me. The way I see it is that Veda has infinite computing power. So, if you are able to stimulate that for a person, the cosmic computer can work for them. In my case, my particular skills, personality and ability were fed into the cosmic computer and it worked out the best job possibility for me, even in terms of proximity to home. The cosmic computer can work all of this out in a second, but if you don't have access to it, you don't get results. Thanks for the access."

Maharishi: "NOW THAT YOU HAVE MENTIONED VED (pure knowledge and its organizing power) and your Self is the Ved, all about this you have mentioned, then you deserve to know the essential values of Rajaraam’s (Dr. Tony Nader's) research. What is the essence of Rajaraam’s research? The physiology is the Veda. The physiology is consciousness. How physiology is consciousness? How physiology is Ved? And how you are experiencing it?
"I will send you a chart. What the chart will tell you: 'A' has a special place to reverberate in order to produce the sound 'A.' It is from the throat, 'I' from the palate, 'U' from the lips. So, these are the places whose reverberations form these svaras (sounds). The whole body is there. Dr. Mölk and Dr. Picha here, they are making these charts in order to substantiate and bring to visual level Rajaraam’s research, how every aspect of the physiology is related to the corresponding value of the Veda."
Note: Below is a small image of the huge chart of the Vedic alphabet that Maharishi sent to me. This was a preliminary chart, so it contained a few mistakes. The Vedic alphabet is traditionally organized like this according to the source of the sound in the mouth. For example, guttural sounds are produced in the throat and are grouped together. Dental sounds are produced by the teeth and are grouped together.
Maharishi: "It will be very interesting to see the relationship on the physiological level of the language corresponding to the physiological level of the body. It will be interesting to see, and you will see there is nothing much for study or anything. Do not try to study or anything. Just for the sake of curiosity, we know that now your experiences have come down to a level of reality from where different parts of the physiology reverberate and give you that experience, that experience, that experience.
"It will be very interesting that you have those things. It’s not to waste too much time on that, but just to see that in the field of gaining knowledge, complete knowledge is available, and all these eight prakritis (earth, water, fire, air, space, mind, intellect and ego) and nine paraprakritis (transcendental level of the prakritis) and purusha (cosmic spirit, Self) value, all these different values are there that make the total thing in one expression. I am atma (Self). I am Ved. I am vishwa—the whole universe. I am brahm—Aham brahm (I am the totality—I am brahman). These final expressions of reality—your experiences are mounting to that, mounting to that.
Your experiences—I am the Veda. Whatever it tickles here, I am the Veda, it tickles. I am the Veda, so Vedoham (I am Veda) is the experience. Now this Vedoham, Vedoham is the quality of the speech, the speech, the language. The language flows. Veda flows, atma (Self) flows, brahm flows. Aham brahmasmi (I am brahman, I am the totality). Total thing is right there.
The flow of atma is 'A.' 'A' is total Ved. So, flow of atma is total Ved, and you are experiencing Ved here, Ved here, Ved here, Ved here, Ved here. So, you are speaking what is there in the record as the reality. What you are experiencing: I am experiencing Veda, I'm experiencing Veda, Veda, Veda, Veda. So, that is in the record, that the Veda is atma. Flow of atma is Ved, Ved.
Precipitation of the flow of atma means the language; precipitation of the language is the physiology, physiology, physiology, physiology. Pure environment, pure universe, Ved, Ved, Ved, Vedoham. You are experiencing the Vedahom. It is a marvelous experience."

After doing Distance Healings for June Oliver's son, I received this report:
"I spoke with my son today, and he says he has not needed any pain medication for the last couple of weeks and is sleeping through the night. He is very far down the road to full recovery. Thank you always for your wonderful healing attention. I am grateful to you and to Maharishi for encouraging you to share your gifts."
Later, I got this update from June:
"Thank you for helping Peter these last couple of months. We just returned from a visit with him, and he is doing very well. He is out of pain and well mended and is his usual sunny self. I appreciate you helping him over that rough period!"
Since 1972, I have told Maharishi hundreds of experiences. He was especially interested in the Vedic ones and gave beautiful explanations of how Veda is not a collection of books but is actually pure knowledge and the infinite organizing power inherent in pure knowledge. Sometimes he described Veda as the central switchboard of all possibilities and other times as the home of all the impulses of creative intelligence. He liked that my awareness was naturally on this level and remarked that I was having a positive effect on others. In this video, I give a more complete explanation of what I mean by "Veda."
I was fortunate to speak again with Maharishi shortly before he passed away in 2008. He was regularly calling to hear our experiences on the peace-creating course, which was then being held in Fairfield, Iowa. Under his guidance, together we daily practiced his Transcendental Meditation and TM Sidhi Program. (Note that below, I refer to "sutras." Sutras are advanced meditation techniques which comprise the TM Sidhi Program. They help to develop normal, natural human abilities, such as strength, calmness, intuition and peace.)
A fellow at another course location spoke right before me. Maharishi enjoyed his experience and then asked, “Would anyone like to compete with this experience of today?” I was next in line, so they suddenly turned my microphone on.
I don’t profess to be able to compete, but this is what I have to offer.
My name is Suzanne Stryker, but the following experiences have nothing to do with my individuality and everything to do with what you have given, Maharishi. My experiences come pre-labeled. It seems as if they are labeled and explained by the Self, in the Self, in pure awareness, oneness. I am everything, everywhere. I am Veda.
Along with these kinds of experiences, my body feels open, almost nonexistent. My body feels like a porous fabric of Veda, floating in a sea of ecstasy, a gem of self-effulgent light, basking and reflecting in THAT.
All these experiences occur during program and activity and can happen at any time of the day or night. Truths seem to reveal themselves when I do artwork, for instance. I frequently have these experiences when I walk; I will feel Vedic hymns purring along. I feel like I am walking Veda. Veda is who I truly am. Everything is my Vedic Self, quiet Veda and Vedic bliss in motion. Although I have these kinds of experiences frequently during this course and during the past thirty-five years, it seems like there is a new level of purity, purity that has nothing to do with me, but everything to do with this pure and sattvic atmosphere here in Fairfield, Iowa.

I received a lovely email from a lady who has been receiving my Distance Healings on a regular basis and her heart was overflowing with gratitude and generosity. "I spent several hours in the emergency room with serious premature ventricular contractions (PVC), tachycardia and some atrial fibrillation. The premature ventricular contractions were in the danger zone of 24%. One could die if this were to continue or worsen. It took another several weeks to get the cardiologist appointment and subsequent further testing, which confirmed the initial data. Meanwhile, my heart had given me severe night sweats and other issues, once again indicating nighttime A-Fib runs. This was not good. Then I had a session with Suzanne, and by the next morning, my heart was 98% better, my PVCs dropped to 1% and my night sweats left and no tachycardia. After two Distance Healing sessions with Suzanne, I have improved again. I am looking forward to future healing sessions."

Let us step back and get a larger perspective on life. We know that nature operates in cycles. After the dark of the night, day always follows. What followed after one of the darkest times in human history? The last major Renaissance followed the Black Death, the most fatal pandemic to date. Historical documents from the post-Black Death era indicate that the standards of living improved after that pandemic. The Middle Ages then transitioned into the Renaissance. Particularly in Europe in the 15th and 16th centuries, there was a revival of knowledge and new ways of seeing the world. This transformation was even seen in the art world. Lighting and perspective were utilized to give depth and realism to paintings.
I bring up the Renaissance because there may be parallels with what is going on now and what is to come. The Renaissance was a profound cultural movement that affected not only the arts, architecture and music, but also how people thought, which produced a profound influence on literature, philosophy, politics and life in general.
This change in thinking even changed religion. It gave birth to the Reformation. The Reformation was a huge transformation within Western Christianity in 16th-century Europe that challenged the Catholic Church and the authority of the Pope.
The influence of the Renaissance also spread into science and technology. Important inventions like Gutenberg's printing press rapidly spread the Renaissance and Reformation concepts.

Change is inevitable. The old ways are decomposing and it is not always pretty. Eventually, they will transform into better ways. As a gardener, I think of composting as an example of positive transformation. You make use of trash, old leaves and discarded vegetable scraps. If you add something else to your compost that is normally not desirable—manure—it will act as a catalyst to speed up the decomposing and transformational process.
To make good compost, you need to occasionally stir the material and turn it upside down. In our world, we will see the old ways and institutions stirred up, shaken and restructured. For a while, things may seem completely upside down and contrary to what they should be.
In 1979, over 100 of us were with Maharishi on a large boat ride on the Gulf of Siam off the coast of Thailand. He was discussing the effect of the square root of 1% of the population practicing coherence-creating techniques together. He said that would speed up the phase transition to better times. He talked about how such a quick transition could be quite bumpy and wanted our feedback on whether we should go ahead anyway. Specifically, I remember him saying that heads of state could change and the economy could turn upside down. He looked at us and said, "Should we do it?" It was intriguing hearing people trying to convince Maharishi that we should go ahead with a quick transition, despite his concerns!

Maybe there is some wisdom in transforming old material into compost. You need to be patient; it takes time. But it is worth it because the result is rich compost material, the best food for your plants. It is called "black gold" because it produces healthier plants, which when consumed, support good health.
It is natural to want better times to come immediately, but let us also enjoy what we have at hand—this unique opportunity to witness and be a part of tremendous transformations to a more enlightened age.

A few Friday nights ago, I received an urgent message from Anne Melfi who was with her life companion, Marty Davis, in the emergency room. Marty had septic shock, which can quickly lead to organ failure, and a 40% chance of death. I dropped everything and put my attention on him right away. I am used to doing this because emergencies often happen on the weekend. I always try to be available when someone requests a Distance Healing for an Urgent or Special Occasion.

As time has gone on, I have tended not to think in terms of stages or states of consciousness. Instead, I feel like I have various perspectives or lenses available through which I experience: Waking, dreaming, witnessing, oneness, pure knowledge, karma, God and God's helpers, etc.
Also, I can experience the world through other people, how they see their world as well as their true essence. Perhaps that is why people often cry when they talk with me and say they finally feel understood, seen and healed.

Other points of view that I experienced are the world through an animal or a plant. I have received many gifts this way as well. As with people, the points of view are limitless, and each one has its value.
I will try to elaborate on these later, but here are a few of my favorite perspectives. Perceiving the world through pure knowledge, Veda, is quite enlivening in multiple ways with multiple benefits. Experiencing the exquisite healing colors of pure light—what I call jewels of consciousness, ratna—satisfies the artist within. Viewing through God's eyes expands my mind and heart like nothing else does.

I am also quite adept at looking through the eyes of ignorance. This keeps humbleness and compassion lively and helps me to be more understanding. Repeatedly, I am delighted to find oneness, God and beauty, even in the dense mess of cement and darkness.
Another way to explain what is going on inside of me is that all modes of consciousness seem to be accessible. Instead of being locked into one point of view, I can experience and understand a variety of different ways to perceive situations and the world. This makes it hard to judge anyone and easy to love everyone.

As we pass through the doorway to a new year, I have wishes and gifts to offer. My New Year's wish for you is that every moment of every day will be delightful. I have some of my most delightful times while doing mundane tasks. In this newsletter, I share my experiences with the intention to enliven something wonderful in you:

When I was with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, he liked to talk about brahman consciousness. He explained, “Even the farthest reaches of the galactic universe which we can’t see are still concretely cognized and appreciated as an expression of the Self.”
I don't claim to be enlightened or be better than anyone else. How could I be superior when I am one with every creature? I am a continual work in progress and always will be, as far as I can tell. But that doesn't stop me from having a good time. I keep growing, learning and smiling.

I experience my individual body as cosmic and made of pure knowledge, Veda. Simple activities seem sacred – chopping vegetables, rinsing dishes, walking, etc. At any time, I can hear hymns of Veda flowing in my awareness, like a holy ceremony, a yagya.

What is most visually fascinating is experiencing my body on the level of consciousness. On that level, my body looks completely different inside. It is made up of self-effulgent jewels of pure awareness that radiate exquisite colors of light. These gems are not stagnant. They are alive and glowing, sparkling and flowing through various channels of my nervous system. Or maybe I should say un-nervous system because my body seems to be unbounded and made of pure silence.

We have before us a unique opportunity for transforming our lives and our world for better times. To assist that transformation, let us do what we can to purify and reprogram ourselves. Now is the time to drop old baggage and habits that are not serving us so that we can make space for this great change to happen within us and around us.

Even if we do not have overt addictions, we may want to transform tendencies such as procrastinating, rushing, sitting too much or overworking. Most people I talk to want to be more disciplined with their exercise, diet, bedtime and/or screen time.

When I was a child, I noticed that people around me had addictive tendencies. Every single day, my father exercised. Every night, he had a few beers. I concluded that addiction was inevitable, so I decided to use that tendency to get hooked on good habits. Over time, I have had more insights and developed specific steps to transform habits which have helped many. I finally made a recording and have only shared it with a small number of people. It contains tools to empower you, help you resist temptations, lead a balanced life and be successful.

Research by Columbia University finally answers some important questions. Numerous earlier studies linked prolonged sitting to a wide range of health concerns, even if you exercise daily. They include dementia, obesity, increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, blood clots, cancer, back pain and indigestion. This new study answers crucial questions: How often do we need to move around? And for how long?
The new research was published on January 12 in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, the journal of the American College of Sports Medicine. It compared five activity options to find out what is the least amount of movement needed to counterbalance the hazardous effects of sitting too much. This small study tested five different exercise routines: one minute of walking after every 30 minutes of sitting, one minute after 60 minutes, five minutes every 30, five minutes every 60 and no walking. Guess which one gave the best results.
A five-minute walk every half hour was able to offset much of the negative effects from sitting. This was the only option that significantly lowered both blood sugar and blood pressure. It is already known that exercise can help control blood sugar, but what this new study shows is how beneficial frequent short bouts of movement can be. The researchers were surprised the blood sugar spike after a meal was reduced by 58 percent when participants moved for five minutes every half an hour. In an NPR interview about this study, Dr. Robert Sallis said, "I have never seen that kind of drop in blood sugar, other than with medication."
One reason why I am covering this information is because many of you may not be aware that you are prediabetic or have high blood pressure. According to the Centers for Disease Control, one out of every three adults in the US has prediabetes, and nearly half have high blood pressure. Of the 96,000,000 American adults who have prediabetes, more than eight in 10 don't know it. Diabetes and high blood pressure are two key risk factors for heart disease, which is the leading cause of death worldwide. By moving around more, you could be saving your life.
In this study, all amounts of walking significantly reduced blood pressure by 4 to 5 mm Hg compared to sitting all day. This is a significant decrease, like what you would expect from exercising daily for six months, according to certified exercise physiologist Keith Diaz, PhD, Assistant Professor of Behavioral Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and Director of the Exercise Testing Laboratory at the Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health.
The researchers also periodically measured participants’ levels of mood and fatigue during the testing. All walking regimens, except walking one minute every hour, led to significant decreases in fatigue and significant improvements in mood. Even if you do not have problems with blood sugar or blood pressure, who would not like to have more energy and feel happier?
Stay tuned for updates because the Columbia researchers are currently testing 25 different amounts of walking to determine outcomes for a wider variety of people.
The conclusion of this study is simple. For ideal health, you need to sit less and move regularly. I know some of you have trouble walking, so do whatever physical movement is comfortable. Even five minutes of activity spread throughout the day offers tremendous benefits.
I challenge you to try an experiment for one day. If you would not be disturbing anyone, before you sit down, set a timer to go off every half an hour. When the alarm goes off, get up out of your killer chair and move around for five minutes. Do this every day for one week, then for one month. Hopefully you will continue indefinitely.
Before and after your experiment each day, note how you feel, your mood and your energy level. You could use a rating system with one representing the worst and 10 being the best. If you can, note your blood sugar and blood pressure before and after your daily experiment.

In this blog, I share intuitive insights I receive from my paintings. The above painting that I did many years ago is an example of what I call process painting. The purpose is not to paint a pretty painting, so I do not plan what I am going to paint. Instead, I enjoy the process, paint intuitively and am unconcerned with the outcome. The wonderful thing is that I can get insights during and after the process. This painting started out as a landscape, and then I found myself painting a funnel shape in the sky. They are too small to see, but to the lower right of the funnel are people rising up from the land, up into the air and then into this funnel. After finishing the painting, I realized that many people were going to be exiting the planet. Then Covid happened, and it all made sense.
With the above painting, I had a similar sense of people departing our planet, possibly due to natural disasters. At the top of the funnel are people getting sucked inside. I painted this before the concept of global warming was widely accepted. I think of this image when I read about devastating tornadoes and hurricanes.
Below is a new painting that has not been posted anywhere else. You are the first to see it. It goes perfectly with the recording topic below about the heart chakra, which is interesting because I created the artwork before the recording. Coincidentally, the color green is associated with the heart chakra.
A more refined value of the heart chakra is Hridaya, which is also translated as "heart." It is traditionally represented with eight petals and a deep-red fire region, both similar to my artwork. It is said that within Hridaya is the red wish-fulfilling tree, Kalpavriksha, which symbolizes the ability to manifest one's desires.

]]>Did you know that everyone sees color a little differently? In this blog post, I talk about the mysterious language of color. Because we are used to the way we see colors, many of us may not be aware that we have some degree of colorblindness.
The following experience, reported as a result of my services, seems appropriate for our topic at hand:
"Layer upon layer of unfoldment within light. At some point, energy came up from the earth, up through the chakras, which were bathed in light, but each clear chakra was a bubble. The energy rose through them, rendering an inaudible tone for each. The sequence continued––energy from earth, through each chakra, delivering a silent tone. The pace continued to accelerate and then there was just a rush of that energy flowing unobstructed through the chakras and up and out of the top of my head to the environment. The whole internal subtle body was awake with white light, flowing light from earth to heaven. Today, during my Transcendental Meditation program, that white light flow became golden sparkling light, vibrant within itself."*

In ancient civilizations, color was explored for its healing properties. Light therapy was practiced in ancient Egypt, Greece, China and India. The Egyptians utilized sunlight as well as color for healing. The colors around us have more effect than we might think. Colors affect our mood, perception and social interactions. We also have acquired attitudes about certain colors based on our culture and belief systems. For instance, black can be associated with mourning and also a formal dress occasion, such as a black-tie affair. Red is thought of as stimulating, romantic and feminine, yet it is also seen as a signal of danger. Think of red roses, red hearts and red stop signs.
There are many philosophies about color therapy, but in general, warm colors are said to arouse or stimulate the viewer. This is why you see warm colors like red, yellow and orange in many restaurants.
Although we know that freshly prepared meals are nutritionally superior to fast food, McDonald's mustard-and-ketchup-colored logo does seem to stimulate the appetite.
McDonald’s even uses color philosophy to try to change people's belief that they are not environmentally friendly. Many franchises in Europe have incorporated the color green into their storefronts and interior design because green is associated with being environmentally friendly. Cool colors such as green, blue and violet are said to be healing, calming and relaxing.
Rather than get into a long discussion about the various philosophies of color therapy, I thought I would let you see for yourself how color affects you. Look at my blue painting below. How do the blue and green colors make you feel? Then look at the manipulated version in red. Did you notice a shift in how you felt? Note that if you are colorblind, some colors may appear a lighter shade, a different color or even gray.

What numbers do you see pictured below? The correct answer will be given further below.
Everyone sees color a little differently, even people who aren't colorblind. However, if you are colorblind, you don't see colors the way most people do. Symptoms of colorblindness are often so mild that you may not notice them.
Colorblindness runs in families. People are usually born colorblind, but sometimes it shows up later in life, often because of cataracts.
Answer: The number embedded in the above illustration is 26. People that are red colorblind see only a 6. People that are green colorblind may only see a 2.
Websites like colorlitelens.com have in-depth colorblindness tests, but please note that computer-based colorblindness tests are not completely accurate because computer displays only have three primary colors. Your local library or eye doctor may have accurate tests.
In the above pictures, the top row of a red apple and a green apple show how they normally appear, and the bottom row shows how washed out the colors look to a colorblind person.
In the above illustration, the top row shows normal vision of color as seen by about 92% of the population. The lower rows illustrate how color appears with various kinds of colorblindness and the percentage of the population with the corresponding conditions. Difficulty distinguishing between red and green is the most common form of colorblindness, followed by blue-yellow colorblindness. Red-green colorblindness affects up to 1 in 12 males (8%) and 1 in 200 females (0.5%). That could explain some unusual color combinations people wear.

In conclusion, not everyone perceives something as simple as color the same way. It is no wonder that we have varied points of view about everything else in the world too. Since we cannot force our point of view on someone else, let's join hands, dance and celebrate our differences.

]]>A word about God. God has different names in different traditions. Whenever I mention the word "God," please feel free to substitute whatever name of God works for you. If even the word "God" makes you feel uncomfortable, substitute in your mind and heart whatever concept feels natural to you such as spirit, universal love, mother nature or cosmic intelligence. If you have a non-dualist inclination, please consider that you can have a love affair with the Supreme Self and not step out of unity for a moment. The lover and the beloved can unite and be one.
Below are a few excerpts from my audio, "Trading Places with God." This audio is available to anyone who is currently receiving a Distance Healing.

When it comes to God, perhaps out of respect, I place God so high in my awareness that He/She/It is almost out of reach. Almost. The only appropriate place for God seems to be in a sacred realm. No humans allowed. I don’t understand how, but by some miracle, my awareness can approach that sacred realm.
In 1976, God left His imprint on my heart. The crude winds of time have not erased it. I see and feel Him behind the scenes, adding meaning and love to my life. I appreciate God and His creation so much that I feel a friendly family feeling with everything.
The way I normally experience God is like having a beloved companion and guardian around all the time. He replaces the sterility and monotony of oneness with sweet bliss and love. He gets me out of my head and into my heart. Typically, I wouldn't describe my experiences of God any further because it's too tender and personal. Perhaps because the following experience is unusual, abstract and brings in different points of view, I venture forth to share with you.
In an instant, my point of view changed radically. I was like a child who had fallen asleep during a car trip and woke up in vacationland! Dazed, I found myself in a new place. I found myself inside God seeing through His eyes! How could this be? A moment ago, I sat as a little person in a large dome. A moment later, I was inside God. Instead of being near the altar of my Lord, I was in the altar. The hair on my subtle body stood on end.
Self-conscious of my mere humanness and the old sweatpants I wore, I wondered, “Am I clean and pure enough to be here in God, in this most sacred of all places?” Since I couldn’t put the experience on pause to go purify myself, I decided to look around inside God.
The rubber bands of my mind and senses stretched and broke. I felt like a child on her father’s shoulders. I saw beyond what was humanly possible....

I was working out in the weight room at the local university's gym. Mike, a tall fellow resplendent with muscles, was doing squats, his squat bar loaded with weights at least double my body weight. At only 108 pounds, I am slight, but picking up two of me is not something most people could do. However, lifting just little me seems to entertain bigger people. On more occasions than I would like to remember, guys at a dance have suddenly picked me up and tried to twirl me upside down and around like a majorette's baton. They neglected to factor in: my lack of wings, the people dancing nearby and the hardness of the floor–my likely landing pad. I strongly advise people to resist the temptation to pick me up. Lift weights instead.
Meanwhile, Mike had finished a set of squats and went to another part of the gym to work on the pec machine. A large young man I will call Bob asked him, "Are you done here? Can you remove your weights from the squat bar? Can I use it now?"
Mike replied that he would remove his weights when he was done. After he finished with the pec machine, he went back and did another set of squats. Then he walked over to the pec machine. Again, Bob asked him several questions about removing his weights.
Mike shouted, "I already told you that I will remove the weights when I am done!"
Bob squinted his eyes, walked closer to Mike and peppered him with loud questions about when he would be done, when he was going to remove the weights, etc. I happened to be working nearby on the lat machine, which put me right between these two volatile men. I felt like I was in a danger zone.
Since an early age, I have found myself inadvertently placed in the middle of two arguing people. At a summer camp in the woods, two girls in our cabin got into a fight, while the other two of us tried to calm them down. Alice had mentioned to cross-eyed Brenda that her eyes were crossed. Brenda punched her in the nose. To break the tension, I offered my most coveted treasure. My mother had sent me a small box of my favorite treats because I hated the camp food. I encouraged each girl to choose whatever treat they wanted. The sounds of satisfied munching quickly replaced the yelling. I suggested the four of us form a secret club with the motto being "All for one and one for all." They loved the idea. Harmony was restored.
Just before bedtime, Alice noticed little teeth marks in a piece of candy. A discussion ensued about what kind of scary creatures crawled around in our cabin while we slept. The girls were terrified to sleep alone, so all three of them piled into my tiny cot designed for one child. This was not exactly what I had in mind with our "All for one and one for all" motto. I woke up the next morning feeling cramped and damp, but I was glad everyone was getting along. I never asked who wet my bed.
Now, instead of being between two arguing little girls, I was between two large muscular men who were screaming profanities at each other.
I should mention that typical gym protocol is to remove your weights from the bar when you are done, but there is a gray area of what to do when you are in between sets. Most people rest briefly nearby between their sets, but some of us like to go work on another machine. If someone wants to use the squat cage in between my sets, I remove my few weights. It's a hassle, but that is what you do when everyone else is bigger than you. Removing all Mike's heavy weights between each of his sets would have been a workout in and of itself for some people. On the other hand, no one likes to wait to use the equipment. I sympathized with both men's points of view.
As the men argued about who was being selfish, I saw into their individual lives and how both of them and their families had been extensively mistreated in the past. My heart flowed with compassion. The yelling got so loud that everyone in the gym had stopped what they were doing and were staring at them. Mike tore off his tank top and threw it on the ground. He was challenging Bob to a duel. He puffed up his massive chest and started advancing on Bob. Mike clenched his fists and was ready to take a swing.
In a flash, I saw terrible consequences for their future educations and careers, if they got physical. Without thinking, I stepped between the two men and said, "I'm the selfish one here."
I looked at Mike and said, "I want what you want."
I looked at Bob and said, "I want what you want. I want what I want, when I want it."
I looked at Mike and said, "I want what I want, when I want it."
There was dead silence in the gym. Everyone was looking at me with their mouth opened. The two men were so shocked, I guess they forgot their anger. They both blinked and looked like they had woken up from a bad dream. Between them stood a silver-haired lady half their size, who claimed she was the selfish one. They couldn't argue with that, and so they closed their mouths and everything settled down.
Now, I don't recommend stepping between two fighting men, or you could end up like Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet. The point here is to understand other people's points of view so you feel genuine compassion. That helps connect you to universal love which can then guide you to do what is appropriate for the situation. It may be best to not even speak a word; simply your loving intention could be just the right thing.

I'm glad many of you enjoyed the last Global Group Healing that we organized. It was a lot of work coordinating this event with people all around the world, which is why we are not able to offer it more often. When we have a date for the next one, we will let you know in these newsletters.
I've been asked what I experienced during the event, so I will share that with you.
Before the Global Group Healing, I prepared by doing yoga asanas, pranayama breathing exercises, meditation and advanced meditation practices.
During meditation, the personification of universal love was lively in my awareness, dancing in harmony as two complete opposites, the feminine and masculine energies, yin and yang, dark and light. In between these complete opposites were all possibilities. Everything was included; nothing left out. The two were really integral parts of the same one. They contained the essence of all, the potential of everything.
This Divine Couple danced in rainbow colors of pure light that swirled and twirled, interacted and combined as one, as opposites that were perfectly matched and could manifest anything.
I was acutely aware of universal love/God awake in me, perceiving what I perceived and enjoying that. This presence in my awareness seemed to enliven infinite power, like a reservoir from which to draw upon to help others.
During my advanced meditation practices, it was as if I was doing the practices for the benefit of everyone and everything. I felt a sense of enlivening happiness and compassion in every heart and home, stretching and opening each person's heart for greater capacity of love and appreciation. Likewise, for all, I felt an enlivenment of strength and calmness, intuition, knowledge, etc.
During the actual Global Group Healing, I continued to feel universal love/God awake in me and flowing as healing love and compassion to all. Gratitude flowed to every aspect of universal intelligence responsible for creating and maintaining everything in existence. Thankfulness flowed to the teachers of every tradition for enlivening the truth. I felt appreciation for our families and ancestors for their good works and wished them all the best.
Universal healing love flowed through me on behalf of everyone for improvements in various areas of life, too numerous to name. On a subtle level, I perceived a connection with each person, like individual threads connected in the beautiful fabric of humanity. Each intention for improvement glowed throughout this fabric to enliven its qualities therein.

I've talked to people who think they are not making progress along the path because they have misconceptions. They think in higher states of consciousness:
All kidding aside, avoid unrealistic expectations or you could become disappointed, stop your practice and throw out the baby with the bathwater. Of course, many people do report that their lives improve significantly as they progress along the path, both internally and externally. Some will have flashy experiences and others will not, but it doesn't mean that they are more evolved or better people. Each individual is unique and their journey will be as well.
Along the way, the path may twist and turn, even to the point where it seems as if you're going backwards. If you need help along the way, reach out to the wisest friend you can find. Take heart and know that eventually you will arrive safely at home.

I think of an experience as a treasure chest or gift. A treasure chest is not useful until you open it. I use writing as a tool to open and unwrap that gift, to unpack layers of insights, and to appreciate and understand the hidden treasures inside.

The process of expressing subtle experiences in concrete words draws them out and integrates them on all levels so that they are more accessible. Writing helps you connect the dots in your internal world, expand your awareness and enliven your inner guru.

As I walked through the forest, I felt a oneness with all. New blades of emerald grass reached up to the heavens in prayer. I heard the pleasant crunching sound of dry leaves as two silver squirrels played a game of hide and seek. In front of me, a cardinal settled on a branch in a hickory tree and dazzled me with his redness and song. An old truck puttered down the road nearby. All the sounds I heard were like my mantra for the moment. Sound therapy orchestrated by nature, just for me.
I appreciated the tranquility of the trees around me. Like human beings, the trees were alive, but unlike many humans these days, the trees were peaceful and uncomplicated. No confusion, anger, anxiety or blame. No greed, guilt or jealousy. Simplicity. Simplicity at its best.
I would've just been content to admire and bask in the wonderful qualities of the trees, but they even gave me a gift.
I felt the trees appreciating me for being aware, for appreciating what they naturally radiate, as if we were secret members of a mutual admiration society. I felt them quietly say, "Finally! We have been waiting so long for someone to recognize our true nature. We are delighted."
The trees rooted a deeper sense of peacefulness in my nervous system, right down to my core.
A lightbulb went off inside me and inside the trees as well. We woke up together. I learned that by me being aware of the glory of the trees, they could know it, for themselves, through me. I became the eyes and the ears for the trees, so they could perceive through me. I was infinitely connected to them on the level of unity. Their experience was my experience and my experience was their experience. They marveled at how I could walk and move about so freely. I marveled at how they could stay present and still, decade after decade.
I looked at the hundreds of trees surrounding me. Each one a cherished family member. Each one in its own way contributed to the silence that we experienced together.
I felt as if I had been given the best of boons. And yet the trees indicated they had received. It was impossible to tell where the giving and receiving began and ended, for it was a mutual endowment and delight.
I became aware of God in the trees and God appreciating me from within the trees. I became aware of the God in me, seeing through my eyes and knowing the silence within and without.
I sauntered along with my awareness including the hundreds of godly trees around me and beyond. Lost and found in the beauty of it all. My mantra for the moment.
