I paint in various styles from abstract to imaginary landscapes. This page shows a few of my seascapes. You can see more here.
My Experience
the coarseness of this California bedspread
the softness of Pashmina earlobes
the friendly ocean breeze whispering good morning.
the children's screams of discovery
the gargling fountain splashing sounds.
the slamming of hotel doors
the rushing helicopter chopping space.
I see beyond these three walls
far beyond these objects
palm tree paintings and chocolate furniture
melt into Me.
they originate and vibrate in Me.
I am left with an infectious friendliness
pervasive peacefulness
unwound from the thoughts of my mind.

Experiment
Try an experiment. Stop what you're doing right now and listen. Notice all the sounds that you can hear. If you like, write them down in a journal.
What am I hearing right now? I hear a car whooshing down the road. A dog talking about the car whooshing down the road. The furnace fuming. The refrigerator gurgling. The fly buzzing against the window pane. I hear the sounds of my breathing. I notice the subtle sounds of my thoughts. I sense silence underneath it all. I detect a playfulness in the quietness. I laugh. I hear the cosmic hum of the universe. I feel connected to everything and everyone with sweet love.
Being aware of what is going on, both in and around you, has many benefits. It helps connect you to all levels of your being: physically, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually.... This is integrating, balancing and healing. In this state of openness, you are more likely to receive insights and practical information which contribute to making the right choices. Also being aware connects you to the present moment which can be more powerful and blissful than the past or the future. Think of other benefits and write them down in your journal.
Try another experiment. Next time you drive somewhere familiar, have your phone and the radio off. Next time you do a mundane task like washing the dishes, do it in silence. If you are used to a lot of external stimulation, initially you might not like doing this. Be patient and try it for a little while and then reevaluate. If you feel calmer or are sleeping better, consider having more quiet time, especially in the hour before you go to bed.
Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the comment section at the bottom of this page.
What Your Friends Are Saying

"Layer upon layer of unfoldment within light. At some point, energy came up from the earth, up through the chakras, which were bathed in light, but each clear chakra was a bubble. The energy rose through them, rendering an inaudible tone for each. The sequence continued––energy from earth, through each chakra, delivering a silent tone. The pace continued to accelerate and then there was just a rush of that energy flowing unobstructed through the chakras and up and out of the top of my head to the environment. The whole internal subtle body was awake with white light, flowing light from earth to heaven. Today, during my Transcendental Meditation program, that white light flow became golden sparkling light, vibrant within itself."

3. In that Silence
Where everything abides,
But nothing begins or ends
Holding no place.
Where the Devas reside,
In quiet, enraptured with bliss.
Leaving not a trace.
Ever attentive, to your slightest wish.
There, we wait upon you
There, with bated breath,
We look upon you.
Creations’ Administrator
All Pervading Illuminator
In whom nothing is undone or begotten,
Nothing is remembered or forgotten.
In whom all Beings shimmer supernal,
Barely holding their own
Like reflections on water
So ecstatic is that threshold
Where they are neither Formed
or Unformed,
But eternal.
There, we attend you,
And so, amend separation.
There is nothing near or far.
Every creature, every star is attendant.
All places reached at once,
No spaces breached as only Resplendent Grace Is.
Where the sheen of drizzling diversity,
Ascends to attend the Transcendent Sea.
We call up on you, in that Silence
Paying homage to that Grace
Who took form
Though remaining unborn
Moving that which is ever unmoved.
But who approves praise.
Yet whose speech, even as Ved
Turns back, so Silence is the more pleased
While Sound is appeased.
Then, at your feet, we lay
That Silence, you so Lovingly to all Life gave.
We call up that Quiescence
For Heaven on Earth
And Devas,
Seem to take birth
Assuming the semblance of flurry
And scurry
Though they, too,
Are yet unmoved.
They simply wait
upon you
by highlighting or hiding
there Self Reflections
Alighting illusions that instantly
fabricate our interjections.
Our praise thus calls to the forefront,
The Reality of which our world
was unaware.
Heaven on Earth, was always there.
We call upon you, and
we see as you see
Who, by simply Being,
Illumines in all beings your Supreme Reality.
So in that Silence
Where all Beings ascend,
Enraptured with bliss.
Ever attentive to your slightest wish.
We reverently, unceasingly
Attend your Holiness.

The Self is all-knowing,
it is all-understanding,
and to it belongs all glory.
It is pure consciousness,
dwelling in the heart of all,
in the divine citadel of Brahma.
There is no space it does not fill.
Dwelling deep within,
it manifests as mind,
silently directing the body and the senses.
The wise behold this Self,
blissful and immortal,
shining forth through everything.
When It is seen to be
both the higher and the lower,
all doubts and uncertainties dissolve.
Te knot of the heart is loosed.
One is no longer bound to action or its fruits.
The golden realms of the celestial are the subtlest levels of life.
Within them lies Brahman.
Pure, indivisible, brilliant,
It is the light of lights.
They who know the Self know this.
~ Manduka Upanishad
I was obviously seeing with vision other than the purely physical, but what I saw did not conflict with what my ordinary vision registered any more than the central vision conflicts with the peripheral; or close, medium and far ranges of vision conflict one with the other. I saw objects in the ordinary way as well as with some extraordinary extension of the visual faculty; I saw into them with an inner vision and it was the inner sight which revealed the common place objects around me to be of the most breathtaking beauty. By an almost unconscious act of will, as when one switches from one range of vision to another, I found that I brought the inner luminosity into a more intense focus and the ordinary appearances of things receded into a sort of secondary vision. The latter occupied a position in my vision at some undetermined point which was neither peripheral nor a recognized range, but some new point for which I had no frame of reference. By a reverse action, the change took place as swift as a reflex, and the ordinary vision took sharp focus while the luminous vision remained out of focus and at the new intermediate point, suffusing all, but not focused upon anything in particular. I was literally transfixed as my gaze rested upon first one thing and then another: my hand upon the bedspread, the maple table beside the bed, the dust which rested lightly upon it, the telephone, the flowers in a vase, the several books. There was the luminous quality-a light which contained color in the way that a brilliant diamond refracts color, only this color seemed an integral part of the essential substance and not a form of refracted light. The one thing which was, above all, significant was that everything was literally alive; the light was living, pulsating, and in some way I could not quite grasp, intelligent. The true substance of all I could see was this living light , beautiful beyond words. This awareness of beauty so intense as to be nearly unbearable was not to leave me for the four days in which I beheld the world with extended sight.
As I gazed about the room on that first morning, one of the things which particularly fascinated me was that there was no essential difference between that which was animate and that which was inanimate-only in form and function, not in basic substance, for there was only the one Substance, that living, knowing, Light which breathed out from everything. I was aware of the outward difference of each object which drew my attention, but that superficial difference in no way concealed or conflicted with the one substance or living light which composed each alike. Ever since I could remember, I had accepted the fact of oneness of all life and manifestation, but it was purely theoretical, an intellectually accepted condition. But here I was literally beholding the fact itself so very far beyond any concept I had ever held.
There was such beauty in all that met my eye that I could have remained for hours gazing at any one thing, and the feelings of joy and wonder were so strong they seemed to generate a peculiar pain. I recall that I was near-bursting with a tremendous, non-conceptual, understanding of life-like a balloon which is expanded to its utmost capacity-so that my mind was strained with this great, formless “knowing” and I actually prayed, Enough!, more that once.

“In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete, and yet life is ever changing. There is no beginning and no end, only a constant cycling and recycling of substance and experiences. Life is never stuck or static or stale, for each moment is ever new and fresh. I am one with the very Power that created me and this Power has given me the power to create my own circumstances. I rejoice in the knowledge that I have the power of my own mind to use in any way I choose. Every moment of life is a new beginning point as we move from the old. This moment is a new point of beginning for me right here and right now. All is well in my world.” -Louise Hay, author of You Can Heal Your Life
